By all accounts, this is a really simple test to pass, but I can’t help this tight knot of apprehension that coils around my gut whenever I think about it.
Friends will know that I’ve been spoilt over the years by the boyfriend, who drives me around wherever I need to go most of the time.
I’ve also never been the most diligent of muggers since secondary school days, and that slim volume of “The Official Handbook to prepare students for the Basic Driving Theory Test” (all 64 pages of it!) threatens to short-circuit my brain.
What’s more, it can only get worse.
Assuming I pass the BDTT, the Advanced Driving Theory Test comes next and it looks a whole lot worse. If I pass that, amazingly, practical driving lessons follow, and I’m not sure if I’m up to that! I’ve never been all that adept at picking up new gadgets and a car is one of the biggest gadgets there is.
I’m hyperventilating already, shite.
But it’s okay, I will look on the bright side of things and start planning which outfit to wear and what colours to smear on my face the day I finally get to take the photograph for my driving license.
